Associate Partner Blaise Bertrand leads IDEO’s Palo Alto office, where he oversees a group of forty multidisciplinary designers who are passionate about creating sustainable brand experiences for users and organizations. Blaise combines big-picture thinking and object materiality in his work with clients such as Garmin, HP, Lenovo, Medtronic, Nike, Samsung, TDK, and TiVo. Most recently, Blaise co-led a project featured in Gary Hustwit’s new documentary Objectified.

Blaise is an award-winning designer whose concept for a time capsule was selected as a finalist in a 1999 The New York Times competition. Two lamps he conceived were exhibited in the Under the Sun exhibition at the Cooper-Hewitt, National Design Museum in New York. He holds several design patents, and his work has been featured in various international magazines.

Prior to joining IDEO, Blaise worked for Motorola in its San Francisco and Milan, Italy, design studios, leading a 3G team that created new communication experiences. He also explored the viability of the ebook plug-in and authoring tool initiative for Adobe Systems in San Jose, California.

Blaise periodically runs innovation seminars with Entrepart. He received his master’s in industrial design from Les Ateliers-ENSCI (Ecole Nationale Superieure de Creation Industrielle) in Paris.
